Quick answer: The Whirlpool WTW5057LW is 27¾ inches wide and 27 inches deep. Overall height is 41½–42¼ inches with its leveling feet. For a shelf above it, check the more important measurement: 55¾–56⅜ inches with the lid open.

Will it fit beneath your shelf?

Measure from the finished floor to the lowest obstruction, including shelf brackets. Compare that measurement with the lid-open height, not just the control-panel height. A shelf at 54 inches would be below even the guide’s minimum open-lid height. Moving the shelf may be more practical than trying to work around a partially opened lid.

If the underside is at 57 inches, the difference from the maximum listed open height is only ⅝ inch. That is a calculated difference, not an installation allowance. Check the actual leveled position and whether you can load bulky laundry comfortably.

Body size is not the laundry-space size

Whirlpool reports testing with zero side clearance, but recommends extra space for installation, servicing and noise reduction. The illustrated side allowances would make the width 29¾ inches: 27¾ + 1 + 1. Do not interpret the tested zero-clearance statement as the best everyday arrangement.

The rear gap also matters. Measuring only the 27-inch cabinet ignores the water valves, hose bends and drain route. Closet installations have ventilation requirements; consult page 4 rather than treating a closed closet as an open laundry room.

Measure the opening

Record the narrowest width at the front and back. Include baseboards and trim in the measurement.

Check the delivery route

Measure doorways and tight turns before delivery. A large laundry opening does not establish that the route to it is clear.

Before ordering or relocating it

Take one photo of the space and another showing the plumbing and outlet. Mark the shelf height and available width on your notes so the installer can assess them together. The guide specifies 120 V AC, 60 Hz and a minimum 15 A circuit rating; the installation instructions govern the complete electrical and drain requirements.

If a measurement is close, have the installer check it before changing cabinetry. This page helps identify the questions; it does not approve an installation.
