How much installation space is needed?

The owner manual’s washer-only alcove/closet requirements are 1 in on each side, 1 in above, 5 in behind and 1 in in front. The rear space accommodates connections; the front allowance is separate from the space needed to open the door and load clothes.

A 27-inch opening is too narrow for this installation. Adding the two 1-inch side clearances to the 27-inch appliance gives a 29-inch width. This is a calculated width check, not approval of the entire installation.

For a washer and dryer sharing a closet, Samsung specifies two unobstructed ventilation openings totaling at least 72 sq. in. Its specification diagram shows 48 sq. in. above and 24 sq. in. below. The washer alone does not require that specific opening arrangement.

For a pair, compare both manuals and use the larger clearance wherever they differ. Dryer ducting and the stacked installation have their own depth requirements; do not apply the washer-only rear allowance to every layout.

Three checks before ordering

  1. Measure the narrowest point. Include baseboards, door trim and any countertop overhang. Check the route from the entrance to the laundry space too.
  2. Locate the back of the installed washer. Account for rear connections first, then measure the 52 11/16-inch door-open depth from that position. Leave usable loading space beyond the door.
  3. Choose the final configuration. A pedestal changes height; a stacked dryer changes height, ventilation and rear-clearance needs. Use the matching installation diagram.

Which stacking kit and accessories are listed?

Samsung lists SKK-8K as the stacking kit, WE402NW as the white pedestal and WE272NW as the white riser. Listed matching dryer families are DVE45T6000W/DVG45T6000W and the long-vent DVE45T6020W/DVG45T6020W.

Check both complete model codes and the kit instructions before ordering. A 27-inch cabinet width alone does not establish compatibility.
